Watch the video to explore the impacts that a lack of sleep can have on your physical and mental wellbeing.
In this video we explore the chunking strategy for workload management . . .
One way to help manage your workload is to chunk your work and do them in batches.
This involves breaking down large tasks into smaller, more manageable pieces. This allows you to create a timeline for completion and visualise how far along you are towards achieving your goal. Additionally, it prevents you from getting overwhelmed by one large task, which can be mentally draining.
Here are some tips you can do to chunk your workload.
Number one: do the most critical and important things first. This ensures you can devote your freshly renewed energy to urgent and high-impact tasks.
Number two: tackle your emails in one go rather than doing them with other tasks. Set up rules for common emails so they automatically sort in folders depending on level of importance. Do emails that can be dealt with quickly. If it’s a larger job, plan when you will do this and file until then. Finally, use the vacation responder function to tell people when you will respond to emails. Let them know to call you instead in case of an emergency.
Number three: Set your working hours and do the work you can do within that time frame. Do any overflow on the next day. This stops your day from expanding to fit the work.
And number four: block time for important tasks and avoid interruptions. If you are a leader, do not have a completely open door policy where people can walk in and interrupt you. Plan when you will be available and let staff know so you can all work around this schedule. You should also plan your visibility around school. The rest of the time, be selfish to make sure the most important things get done in the most effective way.
